Although Fitzpatrick walks away with the victory, the real story is the Dominance of the World #1, Scottie Scheffler, in this reporter's mind. The level of consistency being displayed by Scheffler is historic and draws comparisons to the “GOAT” Tiger Woods. Scheffler approaches the game as an elimination of chance, similar to that of Jack Nicholas. Even in this article when another man has won the tournament, we are still talking about Scottie Scheffler and comparing him to two of the greatest golfers of all time. At what point do we say, “Scottie Scheffler is one of the Greatest of All Time”? Scheffler constantly leads the PGA in Tee-to-Green by a massive margin, and it seems almost automatic if Scheffler makes the cut; he is in contention on Sunday. I do not believe that this is chance but the results of a lifetime of eliminating chance on the golf course and being the most consistent golfer day in and day out. This story is coupled with smaller field size and strong young guns surging into the spotlight and mixing things up in full field events. This makes Signature Events feel like Majors because the intensity never lets up from Thursday to Sunday afternoon. The temperature is rising and now we enter the heart of Major Season, and all players' mental and physical toughness will be put to the test.
